The "Schlieffen Plan #1" marker is used if "Guns of August" is played as an event. At the beginning of the following turns, if the German War plan moves on to a subsequent stage, the #1 marker is replaced with the appropriate marker (#2 or #3). Immediately remove the marker if the War Plan is cancelled, or if the final stage of the War Plan, Schlieffen Plan #3, has been implemented.

The "Plan XVII" War Plan marker is used if "Guns of August" is played as an event. Immediately remove the marker if the War Plan is cancelled, or is implemented.

The "Tannenberg" War Plan marker is used if "Guns of August" is played as an event. Immediately remove the marker if the War Plan is cancelled, or is implemented.

The "Galicia" War Plan marker is used if "Guns of August" is played as an event. Immediately remove the marker if the War Plan is cancelled.

See variant 18.0 Historical War Plans.

The "InterAllied HQ" is associated to the "Everyone into Battle" event, and is placed on the stack benefiting from the permanent Activation bonus, in the same way as the "Süd Army" marker.

The "Stosstruppen Battle trial" reminder marker is placed, if not yet present, when “von Below Offensive ” or “von Hutier Offensive” are played as an event, or when a Kaiserschlacht CC is played against a space in Russia. It indicates that, if "Treaty of Brest-Litovsk" has been played as an event, Kaiserschlacht CC may be played against spaces in Belgium or France.

The "Bread Riots & Hunger Strikes" reminder marker is used with the corresponding new event.

"Brusilov Offensive" is a prerequisite for "Bread Riots & Hunger strikes", so it now has its own reminder marker.

The "French War Weariness" is used with the corresponding event, and is replaced by the "French Mutiny" marker whenever the French Mutiny effects are triggered.

See variant 9.5.5 French Mutiny rules.

The "German Industrial Might" reminder marker substitutes the "Rathenau" marker, with no difference in effect.

The "Raw Material Shortages" reminder marker substitutes the "Independent Air Force" marker, with no difference in effect.

The "Beachhead-to-Nowhere" marker is used with the MEF variant rules.

See variant 9.5.3.5 MEF rules.

The "Shovel & Pick" counters are used to mark a space benefiting from a die roll modifier for entrenchment attempts. Gray is for Germans, beige is for Allies.

See variant 11.2.4 Trench rules.
